D E C L A R A T I O N
For raising the level of the relations and cooperation of the
National Security Authorities of the countries from the region
Starting from the basic international documents on reinforcing the collective security and world peace, in line with the right of every state for individual and collective defense,
Guided by the recommendations, the final and the other documents related to security within the international organizations such as the UN, NATO, WEU and OSCE,
Welcoming the decisions of the Alliance on its transformation and further enlargement by developing its internal capacities, the global partnership and the open door policy in order to meet successfully the challenges of the 21st century and to maintain the common values,
The National Security Authorities of the countries from the region

Confirm their permanent commitment for building, maintaining and improving the mutual relations and the relations with the international organizations in the field of security;

Express their readiness to give their contribution to providing and maintaining the peace and security in the region and wider;

Underline the importance of the Adriatic Charter for the achieved results on the road to full integration to NATO and EU of the aspirant countries, the Republic of Albania, the Republic of Croatia and the Republic of Macedonia;

Welcome the decision on inviting the three countries from the region Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Republic of Montenegro and the Republic of Serbia to join the Partnership for Peace and the Euro-Atlantic Council, having in mind their importance for the peace and security in the region and wider;

Encourage the activities of the NATO member countries, the aspirant countries for NATO membership and the Partnership for Peace member countries for building long-lasting stability in the region and wider;

Emphasize the importance of the cooperation on bilateral and multilateral basis of the National Security Authorities of the countries from the region in meeting the standards of NATO and getting involved in the Euro-Atlantic security and stability; and

Express their readiness for maintaining regular annual meetings of the National Security Authorities of the countries from the region at the highest level as a clear and explicit signal for reinforcing the collective security and the world peace.
